YORK Lokomotive ARLC have a new coach for 2013 with former York Acorn and Lokos player Jon Hough taking over the reins from Liam Watling.

The club begin pre-season training for Yorkshire Men’s League season on February 13 at 6.45pm at their York RI base on New Lane.

Watling returns to playing duties having been coach in 2012 while sidelined for a year following major knee surgery, although he will also act as assistant-coach.

He is one of 23 players currently in the ranks although the club are seeking more, as well as sponsorship for the new campaign. Anyone interested can phone Watling on 07792 911606.

Hough, head of PE at Scarborough High School, hung up his boots two years ago after three seasons with the Lokos. He now returns to the game having had a year out.

The Yorkshire Men’s League season kicks off in the first weekend of May. Before then, the Lokos have friendlies against Heworth on February 23 and Scarborough Pirates on March 2, and they play Acorn in the York & District Cup on March 30.

They have a cross-code charity match against partner rugby union club York RI, followed by a fundraising night, all on March 16. The match comprises 40 minutes of league and 40 of union.
