KEEN astronomers looked to the sky as part of a national stargazing night.

And experts explained the sky at night to visitors to the Rutherford Appleton laboratory ath the weekend.

Daniel Pope, on a placement at Oxford’s Science and Technology Facilities Council, brandished a “magic planet” to explain the mysteries of space.

Daniel said “With just your naked eyes, you can see fantastic sights in the night sky including planets, constellations, meteor showers and space satellites.

“Most of us, even in towns and cities, probably live no more than a mile or two from somewhere, such as a park or playing field, where we can see these things.”

Stargazing events also took place in Oxford, Chipping Norton and Hartwell over the weekend.
