A man has been arrested on suspicion of a public order offence after police went to Redbridge Hollow travellers’ site to investigate a burglary today.

Officers attended at about 10am following information linking a vehicle on the site to a break-in at a commercial property in North Hinksey Lane on Wednesday.

Western Road resident John Pusey said: “I have never seen so many police officers in my life. There looked to be about 30 or 40 of them in dark blue battle dress.”

Thames Valley Police spokesman Rhianne Pope said when police arrived to deal with the original enquiry they discovered two caravans thought to be stolen.

A 25-year-old man was then arrested on a public order offence. He remained in custody yesterday.
