SIR – Sainsbury’s car park in St John’s was gridlocked on New Year’s Eve with tailbacks blocking the traffic light junction, due to change in tragic flow caused by the normal exit being blocked by by two large signs being placed across the exit.
This caused long queues and total gridlock as the only way out was along the front of the store front past the cash machines.
The conflicting moves caused by this strange traffic flow caused many drivers to try and turn around and also a few bumps. Whoever decided on this change needs to think again and restore the normal traffic flow before there is an emergency.
