Oxford Brookes Wheatley campus was last night running on two temporary power generators.
Lectures were cancelled at 4pm on Monday after the campus suffered a power cut.
Engineers from Southern Electric restored power before midnight using the portable generators but the company expects the campus to be running off them for the next few days, while the fault is diagnosed and repairs made.
Southern Electric’s Duncan MacDonald said: “We have set up two small power generators, each one approximately the size of a car. The students and staff will not experience any difference to their power supply while our engineers look for the problem and fix it. Our priority is the continuation of normal service.”
The powercut was caused by a fault in the cable network supplying the university, and the rest of Wheatley was not affected.
Oxford Brookes spokesman Matthew Butler said: “Everything is back up and running off the generators.”
