Staff were evacuated from shops at the Orchard shopping centre in Didcot this morning but there was no cause for alarm - it was just a practice drill.
A spokesman for the Orchard Centre said the practice evacuation, which took place after 9am, is carried out every six months.
She added: "Everything went smoothly and staff were back in the shops after about five minutres - it didn't hold up the shoppers.
"It was a controlled practice evacuation and is something that we do as a precaution."
