Parents and children in a village near Didcot are demanding the return of their bonfire Guys after they were snatched from outside a primary school.

The two Guys, one featuring a mask of TV presenter Bruce Forsyth, were among those made by pupils at Long Wittenham Primary School.

Pupils pinned them to the fence of the school as they waited for bonfire night celebrations but last night two of the guys were stolen.

Mum-of-two Emma Newman, 45, a research consultant who has lived in the village for the past five years, said: "Someone has taken two of the Guy Fawkes and we want them back.

"Over the half-term break, locals from the school and the village make Guys which are proudly displayed on the school fence for all to see in the week leading up to the village bonfire night, this year to be held on Saturday.

"It's a low key local competition, but the children and locals work hard to produce the guys and feel immensely proud when their works of art are displayed for all to see.

"One was a super-sized Minion that one family had spent all of their half-term making out of papier mache. The other was a wonderful ‘Bruce Forsyth’ entered by one of the competition’s founders.

"The families involved are extremely hurt and the village is devastated that somebody could perform such a misjudged prank."
