What murder suspect Jed Allen did with £100 hours before his death could help trace his last steps, police say.

Officers are still trying to work out the final movements of Allen, who was subject to a massive manhunt after three people were found dead in a house in Vicarage Road, Didcot on Saturday, May 23.

Thames Valley Police said it was continuing to investigate the circumstances surround the deaths of victims Janet Jordon, 48, Derin Jordon, six and Philip Howard, 44, and their only suspect Allen, 21.

The force said Allen boarded a train at Didcot at 5.24pm on May 23 and arrived in Oxford at 5.45pm.

He was captured on CCTV at WHSmith in Oxford railway station just before 6pm.

Police confirmed Allen withdrew £100 from an ATM in the centre of Oxford, near Carfax Tower.

The body of Allen, aged 21, was found in an area of woodland in Marston Ferry Road, Oxford, just before 5pm on Monday, May 25.

When the body was discovered, police said he had about 80p in cash on him and no receipts to indicate where the money was spent.

An inquest into the deaths of Allen and of his family was opened and adjourned yesterday.

A post mortem last week gave the cause of death as hanging.

Det Sgt Ali Driver from the Major Crime Unit said: “It is important that we account for Jed’s movements in the hours before his death.

"It is likely that Jed died on May 23 and there is nothing to suggest otherwise at present, but we don’t know where he went in Oxford before he came to be in Marston Ferry Road. Although we have some sightings of him on CCTV, we can’t trace his entire route.

"If he paid someone £100, we need to know who that person was and why he gave them the cash. If he spent it somewhere else, we need to find out where and why.

“I am appealing to anyone who has any information which could help us to trace the £100 cash, to come forward and speak to police as soon as possible. Please call the 24-hour enquiry line 101, quoting URN 402 4/6.”

Allen was wearing a red or maroon shirt, a dark hooded jacket with a white trim on the zip, blue jeans and black shoes. He was white, about 6ft tall, of stocky build, and had a distinctive tattoo of a spider on his left hand.
