TWO men have been arrested in connection with two robberies and two attempted robberies carried out at knifepoint in Didcot yesterday.

Thames Valley Police says it is holding the men, who are locals and aged 20 and 29, on suspicion of robbery and has appealed to the public for witnesses of the incidents to come forward.

The first took place in Basil Hill Road at about 3.30am, when a man walking near sewage works was approached by two men who produced a knife and demanded money, the force said.

One of the robbers was riding a white bicycle.

At 2.15pm in Lostock Place, a 44-year-old woman was also threatened by two men with a knife. In both cases police said money was taken, but did not say how much.

A man later approached a 27-year-old woman at 10.25pm outside the shops in Lostock Place and produced a knife, and then a 29-year-old woman in Avon Way at 11pm.

Police described one man from the first robbery as 6ft tall and slim and said he was wearing grey hooded top, jogging bottoms, black gloves and grey scarf.

Both he and his companion were said to be in their 20s. No description of the men from the other offences was given, police said.

Those with information should call the non-emergency number 101.
