A RECORD number of children took part in Cherwell District Council’s summer hubs this year.

There were more than 2,600 admissions over the school summer holidays to the weekday holiday clubs in Banbury, Bloxham and Bicester.

Children between the ages of five and 15 could go along and take part in a range of activities including sports and arts and crafts.

The hubs were set up at The Warriner School in Bloxham, The Cooper School in Bicester and at North Oxfordshire Academy in Banbury.

A record 2,609 places were booked across the three sites – significantly up on the 2,085 places which were booked during 2013.

Councillor George Reynolds, deputy leader for Cherwell, said: “Throughout the summer we have welcomed the return of some familiar faces who have joined us day after day and also some new faces who have signed up after hearing about the hubs from their friends.”

The hubs will also run in October half term. Details are online at cherwell.gov.uk/holidayactivities or call 01295 221803.
