Councillors fighting plans to build the High Speed Rail link between London and Birmingham are due to meet on November 5 to discuss the next step.

Called 51m, the group is made up of councils from along the route, including Cherwell District Council, which are opposed to the HS2 link.

Members will also look at the implications of a bill which is expected to be introduced to Parliament by the end of the year and will pave the way for the link to go ahead.

The move comes amid political uncertainty about whether the scheme will go ahead.

The summit meeting will take place at Aylesbury Vale District Council’s offices at Gatehouse Road, in Aylesbury, from 9.30am to 1pm.
