DAVE the snail, Violet the Millipede, Lara the tarantula, Pebble the Rat and Amelia the cockroach were all guests of honour at a nursery school.
As part of a session about senses, youngsters got up close to the bugs to learn how they differ from humans.
The 28 children, aged three to five, also got a chance to hold some of the creatures brought into Busy Bees Nursery, in Barberry Place, Bicester. Manager Becky Clark said: “We had a session all about animal senses, and comparing their senses and how they differed from ours.
“The children were absolutely fascinated by them.”

Tabitha said: “I liked the snail best because I could feel its shell and it was slimy.”
