Second incinerator near Bicester approved

PLANS to build a second incinerator near Bicester have been approved.

Buckinghamshire County Council’s development control committee yesterday gave the go-ahead to plans by Waste Recycling Group to build a burner at Calvert, nine miles from Bicester.

Campaigners say Bicester will be “the filling in an incinerator sandwich” after plans for an incinerator at Ardley were approved last year. The Ardley site is less than five miles from the town. Each will take 300,000 tonnes of waste a year.

The move will mean an extra 84 lorry trips a day around Bicester as waste is trucked to the Calvert site.

Glad to see Bucks CC gave Bicester some thought in this decision. So, along with being an eco town we'll become the dustbin of the south east.

It is nine miles away, what next an incinerator built in High Wycombe is "near Bicester" well it is only just down the M40. Good on the planners I say, it keeps movement to a minimum whilst saving the planet from landfill.
