THE threats posed to wildlife by 100,000 new homes will be debated at a hustings event.

Prospective Cherwell District Council candidates will discuss the topic at St Edburg's Church in Bicester on Wednesday from 6pm.

The meeting will be chaired by Dr Tim Marshall, Emeritus Professor at the School of the Built Environment at Oxford Brookes University.

Even organisers at the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust (BBOWT) said: "Last year’s prospectus for the Oxford to Cambridge Expressway, issued by the National Infrastructure Commission (NIC), made it clear that development within the corridor should be brought forward in a way that increases both the biodiversity and natural capital of the region.

"We are keen to ensure the principles of environmental improvement called for by the NIC are built into the governance of the proposal.
