MEN have been getting in touch with their feminine side by ditching the bravado and taking a bit of time for themselves.

One shop is removing the stereotypes to offer the Bicester's very own salon for men, offering up massages, manicures and more.

The Gent’s Groom Room has opened up in Sheep Street in the unit which formerly hosted Andy’s Barbers.

After a decade in Sheep Street owner Andy Willis decided it was time to move up and opt for a bigger space in Pioneer Square for his business.

Now he has opened the Gent’s Groom Room has opened in its place and is calling on men to get stuck in to the new beauty treatments on offer.

The shop opened on Friday and staff said it has so far had a great response from residents.

Mr Willis, Gent’s Groom Room owner, said: “We have an exceptional team here and the feedback has been really encouraging.

“We’ve had quite a few clients who had never had a facial or sports massage before and they have left feeling incredible.

“Others are already converted and are just pleased to have eyebrow waxing and manicures on their doorstep.

“I am sure as the wedding season gets underway we will have lots of grooms coming through the door, and with Valentine’s Day coming up it’s a great opportunity for ladies to treat the man in their life to a relaxing treatment or gift voucher.”

The salon boasts that it is Oxfordshire’s first male grooming salon exclusively for men, offering facials, sports massage, manicures, pedicures and waxing, as well as stocking Geo. F Trumper beauty products.

The opening follows the 10th anniversary celebrations for Mr Willis's barbers.

He opened Andy’s Barbers on January 10, 2008.

Bicester-born Mr Willis said moving the barber shop to Pioneer Square was ‘bitter-sweet’ as it held so many memories of his first business venture.

But he added he was very excited to start his new business venture.

The Groom Room is open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Wednesday, 9am to 7pm Thursday and Friday and 8am to 4pm on Saturday.
