MOST children's drawings get hung up in school or on the kitchen fridge but for three arty youngsters their work will be displayed on their local bus.

Pictures of popcorn-filled cinema trips, crocodiles of the world and pirate play days persuaded those at Stagecoach buses to crown schoolchildren five-year-olds Ellie Arnold and Lennon Timms-Day and four-year-old Evie Lapper top artists.

The trio have since had their pictures framed and hung on five local Oxfordshire buses and bagged their families free Stagecoach bus travel for a month.

Cat Arnold, mum of winner Ellie from Kings Meadow Primary School in Bicester, said: "The whole family is so proud of Ellie for winning.

"She put in such a lot of effort to make sure she captured everything and so much pride in making sure it was perfect.

"I use the Stagecoach S5 bus every morning to commute to work so Ellie even calls it ‘Mummy’s bus’ so it is a lovely touch that it is now also ‘Ellie’s bus’.

"It sure is going to be lovely travelling to work everyday seeing my daughter’s work of art on show."

Stagecoach called on pupils at Kings Meadow Primary School, Bicester, Wantage CofE Primary School, and St John's Primary School in Banbury.

Schoolchildren were asked to create their drawings of something that reflected their school holidays.

Ellie's picture shows a trip on the bus to Bicester Village to enjoy shoe shopping and cake, before a popcorn-filled cinema trip.

Another winner Evie Lapper, 4, from Wantage CofE Primary secured a winning place with her picture of a bus ride to Oxford for a pirate play day at the Pitt Rivers Museum.

Mum Rebecca Lapper said: "We are extremely proud of Evie for winning this competition, it was a great idea and fun thing to do.

"Evie enjoyed illustrating all of the activities she participated in during her school holiday.

"We look forward to seeing Evie's picture on a Stagecoach bus soon and thanks for Stagecoach for running the competition in the first place."

Also showing his artistic flare to nab top spot at St John's Primary in Banbury was Lennon Timms-Day who sketched out his scaly depiction of his trip to Crocodiles of the World in Brize Norton.

His mum Gail Timms said: "We are really proud of Lennon.

"He worked hard on his picture."

All the entries were uploaded to Facebook and the pictures with the most likes were crowned top artists and their creations framed on the S5 in Bicester, 31 in Wantage and S4 in Banbury.

Stagecoach in Oxfordshire business development manager Karen Coventry said: "We are delighted for Ellie, Lennon and Evie, their pictures were colourful, imaginative and showcased what great attractions we have here on our doorstep in Oxfordshire.

"We were really impressed with their creativity and how they captured their school holiday memories."
