THE owner of a local pub pup that went missing has thanked the community for the "overwhelming support" that helped bring him home.

Jager disappeared for three days after he escaped from the Saxon pub in the early hours of Tuesday last week.

Following a huge community effort the pup was reunited with his '"broken" owner Carly Janman and a coming home party was held on Saturday to celebrate.

Ms Janman said: "We had a call to say that someone who was on his way home from a night shift had seen Jager wandering about.

"He picked him up and took him home to look after him while finding his owner because he didn't know what to do at that time of night.

"The next time he went back for his night shift in Bicester he heard about Jager all over Facebook and Twitter and got in touch."

The young peekapoo – a Pekinese/poodle cross – has become a bit of a celebrity after more than 250 people joined the Facebook page to help find him.

Thousands of people posted, commented and shared the story online – even from as far as Hull.

One post managed to notch up 7,159 shares, and a number of posters were put up across town, while taxi services such as Alpha Cars helped keep an eye out.

Ms Janman said: "I am so grateful and overwhelmed at the amount of support we have had from the community.

"I am ecstatic he is home, it has restored my faith in humanity.

"I could not have got though this without everyone willing me forward and willing him home.

"I wanted to have a party to say thank you to everyone that helped bring my boy home."

Ms Janman was shocked to discover how many people she didn't know were willing to come along and help track the pup.

She was finally reunited with Jager when the London resident returned to Bicester for his next night shift, in what was a tearful reunion in Sheep Street.

A video captured the moment the pup spots and runs to his Ms Janman, who greets him with a cuddle.

Online comments flooded in following the reunion including from Kamaru Dikuson, who wrote "So glad he is home Carly, you have done so well with all of this.

"A huge thank you to everyone who made this moment possible – you should all be proud of yourselves."

Tracey Hawtin said "Amazing community effort. Why I love Bicester".

Jacqui Arnold commented: "Media. It has to be loved sometimes. Hope he never does a runner again. Those anxious hours seemed endless."
