MORE than 200 people lined up to put themselves forward for just over 60 jobs at Bicester Village on Wednesday.

Queues, right, led out of the doors at the John Paul II Centre in Causeway which hosted the outlet shopping centre’s summer job fair.

Bicester Village invited jobseekers to investigate and in some cases, interview on-the-spot, for more than 60 jobs.

It said it expected 80 per cent of the jobs to be filled within two weeks.

Fair organiser Dirk Peters said: “The summertime is always an extremely busy period for us, offering lots of part-time positions which are ideal for school leavers or students on a gap year, but there are also many longer term career opportunities available, ranging from sales assistants to store managers.”

The event ran from 4pm to 7pm for those looking for job opportunities in both retail and hospitality at the centre in Pingle Drive.

Visitors were given the chance to present employers with CVs as well as interview for current vacancies. Apprenticeship opportunities were also presented to visitors.

Community relations director Miranda Markham said: “We currently have over 50 young apprentices who have chosen to continue their education while they work.”

The shopping centre is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, having opened its doors in 1995.
