The Tesco Metro store is due to shut its doors today after the supermarket giant announced the mass closure of smaller stores in January.

The store in Sheep Street was one of 43 around the country to be axed. Trade union Usdaw said about 56 people at the Bicester location would lose their jobs.

A Tesco spokesman said the closure would not affect the existing superstore at Bicester Village or the proposed new site in town.
