A 20-year-old footballer was attacked while playing a game in Pingle Field Bicester.

An altercation on the pitch led to the victim being assaulted by a male on February 7.

The victim lost consciousness and was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital for treatment.

He has since been discharged from hospital.

PC Bryan Groves from Bicester police station said: “Officers spoke to those who were present at the football match at the time of the incident, but we are keen to identify independent witnesses who may have been walking through Pingle Field at the time.

“Pingle Field has a path that runs between the town centre and Bicester Village and at weekends that path is very busy, so it is likely there are various people who may have seen what happened.”
