BICESTER Food Bank has officially opened the doors to its new permanent base in time for the run up to Christmas.

Banbury MP Sir Tony Baldry cut the ribbon at the new base in Market Square on Friday.

It is the first time the food bank has been concentrated in a single place rather than locations around the town. Town mayor Lynn Pratt, Bishop of Dorchester The Revd Colin Fletcher and Banbury Tory prospective parliamentary candidate Victoria Prentis attended.

Mrs Pratt said: “They have moved to new premises which allow them to plan forward and hopefully they will now be able to open more in the future. It is in the town centre and now able to sort everything in one place, so in that respect it is much better and much easier.”

Vouchers can be exchanged to redeem three days’ worth of emergency food at 29a Market Square weekdays 10am to noon.
