Traffic on the M40 was left queuing for miles near Junction 10 at Bicester after a car and a lorry collided.

Paramedics rushed a person with a possible back injury to hospital after the crash, which happened on the northbound carriageway yesterday afternoon.

Police said due to damage to the central reservation, lane three in both directions was closed between Junctions 10 and 11, until about 4pm.

South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman Catherine Morrow said crews had taken the injured person to Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

She said: “One patient was conveyed to Horton General with a possible back injury.”
