A man who tried to escape from a prison van on its way to Bullingdon Prison near Bicester has had eight months added on to his sentence.
Ryan Hodge, of no fixed address, yesterday appeared in Oxford Crown Court via a video link and admitted trying to escape from lawful custody on November 13 this year.
Cathy Olliver, prosecuting, said the 22-year-old prisoner, who is serving a five-and-a-half year sentence, tried to kick his way out through a hatch in the top of his cell inside the GEOAmey van.
No details were given in court yesterday about his original offence.
