ARMISTICE Day 100 years after the outbreak of the First World War was marked by both young and old yesterday.

Pupils from Bicester’s Bure Park Primary remembered the war dead with their own poignant tribute, making a huge poppy from the pebbles they had painted at the Lucerne Avenue school.

Headteacher Robert Pearson said: “It was an opportunity for the school to come together and remember and reflect and recognise the ultimate sacrifice people have made.

“The children responded really well. They were quite taken with it.”

Pupil Millie Broadhurst, four, said: “The poppies look so beautiful when they are together.”
