IT was a successful day for Caroline Nevile and her family at the Steeple Aston Flower and Dog Show yesterday, as they picked up awards across the board.

Mrs Nevile came second in the flower arranging competition and third in the dahlia section and husband Chris won a prize for best beetroots.

Even their eight-year-old lurcher dog George got in on the act, coming third in Dog’s Got Talent, third in the musical sit and second in the fancy dress race.

Mrs Nevile said: “I thought it was a great day, it was really jolly fun.

“I think the weather put people off a bit but not the real stalwarts, who turned out in force.

“There was still a sound attendance despite the weather.

“George’s talent is jumping and he came third in Dog’s Got Talent, so he must have been pretty good at it.

“It was a tremendous day.”

The show, featuring exhibits of flowers, fruit and vegetables, handicrafts and photography classes was being held for the 123rd time at Steeple Aston Village Hall.
