A 29-YEAR-OLD man has admitted assaulting his partner.

Burnley magistrates heard how Christopher Sawley was said to have dragged Jenna Sanson by taking hold of her wrist and then hit her in the face with a cushion, causing injury with the zip.

Sawley claimed he and the victim had argued and he had grabbed to protect a child as she was waving her arms around and the infant was on the sofa.

The defendant, of Straight Mile Court, Burnley, admitted assault by beating on March 22 and the bench ordered a trial over the facts.

He was bailed until the hearing on May 21.

Charlotte Crane, prosecuting, said Ms Sanson would claim there had been previous violence.

Sawley had been out drinking and was aggressive when he returned home at 5am.

Ian Bonney, for Sawley, said: “He threw the cushion at her in a jocular manner.

“He disputes any previous allegations of violence.”
