A 52-YEAR-OLD has been jailed for six years for sexually abusing a teenage girl.

Donald McLeod, of Jubilee Close, in Bicester, was convicted after a trial which took place in November last year.

At Oxford Crown Court yesterday he was sentenced for five counts of committing sexual activity involving a child.

Judge Gordon Risius said McLeod’s convictions were for numerous crimes carried out against one girl aged over four years.

He said: “The psychological damage must be considerable and may last for a very long time, possibly the rest of her life.

“Given that you robbed her of an important part of her childhood.

“And there is little to suggest any real remorse on your part.”

At the hearing McLeod was also told he would be added to the sex offenders’ register and given a sexual offences prevention order which will last 10 years.

It bars him from having any unsupervised contact with children, or sleeping in a house with children without the permission of their parents or guardians and the police.

Graham Bennett, defending, said McLeod had never been before the courts for any similar offences.

Judge Risius sentenced him to one month in prison for one count of sexual activity with a girl, and six years for each of the other counts, all to run concurrently.
