Prison officer Evelyn Slater has been honoured for her work at HMP Bullingdon.
The 62-year-old from the town has worked at the prison for 16 years and teaches prisoners a British Institute of Cleaning Science NVQ course in industrial cleaning.
She has been awarded the British Empire Medal.
Mrs Slater said: “I am amazed really, it is a privilege and an honour.”
