£13k raised for London runner

A FUNDRAISING day has been held in memory of a London Marathon runner whose death prompted more than £1m to be given to charity.

Saturday’s Claire Squires Fun Day at Market Harborough Rugby Club raised more than £13,000 for Leicester child bereavement charity The Laura Centre.

The Leicestershire resident was running for the Banbury and District Samaritans – where mother Priscilla has volunteered – when she collapsed on the final stretch of the April 22 run.

Centre co-founder Gail Moore said: “We are very grateful to everyone that turned out.”
