Leave death to the Almighty, says MP

Banbury MP Tony Baldry, above, has hit out at calls to legalise assisted suicide, saying: “The only person who should determine when we should die is the Almighty – it is not us.”

He told the Commons this week: “If we get into a situation in which we pick and choose who dies and who lives, it is a slippery slope.”

He said care for the dying is often “mediocre” and needed to improve, with better training for junior doctors and closer NHS working with hospices.

Hope he feels the same way if he ever gets to the stage where he can't do anything for himself, doesn't know who he, or anybody else, is.
What point is improving care for the dying if they don't even know, or care, what's happening.
It's about time some people woke up to reality, what's the point of spending money on caring for people that have no desire to live, or don't even know if they're still alive?

What does he think about the 'Almighty' putting humans in situations where they wish to die to alleviate the suffering?

If there is a God then he's got a weird sense of humour.

Should somebody that believes that strongly in fairy tales (or legend whichever you prefer) really be one of the 600 odd most powerful people in the country.

He reached that stage when he became a conservative MP.

I have lots & Lots of faith in Almighty-
But-it's not right to see your loved-one's may suffer and you can't do anything for them ?
Although i do- understand the fear of wealthy families-

'yes, greed is here to stay' i suppose ?

Don't worry about the Almighty, if there really is one. It should not be the right of anyone else to decide when people die. That is why the Lib Dem candidate for West Oxford and Abingdon lost the last general election.
He was a doctor when he earned an honest living and was known to his colleaguies in the House of Commons as Dr Death. It rightly cost him his place in Parliament. Don't let him back.

So you can honestly say that should you ever be confined to bed, being kept alive by machines, not even aware that your loved ones are by your bedside, suffering with grief, that you'd be happy to let them suffer?

I don't believe in god so I make my own decisions in life. That's whats wrong with people like Tony Baldry they want to control you all your life. People should be-able to make there own choice if they are of sound mind and body, Just like in a WILL. If they are in so much PAIN or have good reason not to go on IT SHOULD BE UP TO THEM OR THERE REQUEST IN A WILL, IT'S THERE LAST AND DYING WISH. Let them DIE with some DIGNITY. RIP "I understand"
