A 61-year-old grandmother who admitted to dealing cannabis and spared jail thanked the judge in tears as she walked out the courtroom.

Patricia Wareing of Cromwell Road, Banbury, was handed a one year prison sentence suspended for two years and a conditional discharge for 12 months after she pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply and possessing amphetamine.

The court heard how police officers raided raided Wareing’s house on September 27 last year and found her with two men wrapping Cannabis.

Prosecutor Alexandra Bull said the defendant also provided a Kinder Egg from her bra containing 28.58 grams of amphetamine. She added 82.9 grams of cannabis was found and £995 in cash were found in the house.

Defending, Ronan McCann, Wareing was a carer for her brother and her grandson.

Wareing was also ordered by Judge Ian Pringle QC to do 80 hours unpaid work and to be on a two month curfew.
