COMIC book fans packed into a Banbury social club in their hundreds on Saturday for the town's second Comic convention.

The Banbury Comic, Film and TV convention welcomed actors and authors from all kinds of science fiction and fantasy including members of the popular Games of Thrones cast.

This included Dan Tutte and Tim Plester of Game of Thrones, plus Puppeteer Hugh Spight, who played a Gamorrean Guard, and Femi Taylor, who played Oola in Return of the Jedi, who had not seen each other since filming the 1983 release.

Organiser and owner of Comic Connections Glyn Smith said: "It was our first year doing the convention on our own.

"If I had tried to do this 15 years ago it would have been awful, but since the advent of all the big movies related to comics and the amount on television its become mainstream.

"You used to be called a nerd but now all of a sudden its a cool shop and the convention is a great thing to do as a community event."

The event was held on Saturday at the General Foods Sports and Social Club in Spice Ball Park Road from 11am to 6pm.

The convention bought together a host of stalls, gaming sessions and talks from special guests, plus role playing and computer games on hand.

It was also raising money for Helen and Douglas House Hospice and money is still being counted, although organisers hope to beat last year's impressive collection of £596.50.
