The driver of a car who failed to stop following a crash in Banbury is being sought by police.

Thames Valley Police said the crash happened at the junction 11 M40 roundabout on the A361 Chacombe exit on Sunday at about 4.30am.

A force spokesman said a green Ford Focus was travelling from the roundabout towards Wardington on the A361 when it strayed into the opposite lane and collided with a white VW Passat coming in the other direction.

The Ford Focus ended up in the ditch at the side of the road and the driver left the vehicle and fled the scene.

The man who fled the scene is of mixed race, slim, in his mid to late twenties and was wearing dark yellow trousers.

Investigating officer, PC Duncan Vale, from the Roads Policing Unit based at Bicester, said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to or at the time of the collision.

“The driver has failed to remain at the scene and left prior to police arrival.

"If anyone has seen a man matching this description in the vicinity after the collision or may have picked anyone up and given them a lift, I would encourage them to make contact with me via 101."
