A MAN who was knocked down then chased by the car’s driver could have been killed, police said.

Thames Valley Police said the 23-year-old man was walking along the path outside St Francis Church, in Highlands, Banbury, between about 4.15pm and 4.30pm on Tuesday.

The force said he heard a car travelling at speed and turned around to see a green turquoise coloured car coming towards him.

Officers said the car mounted the pavement, hitting the victim’s legs and throwing the pedestrian into the road.

They said the driver, described as a white man in his early twenties wearing a grey hooded top, got out of his vehicle and started shouting at the victim.

Police said he then chased him on foot, but the victim managed to escape.

The driver was about 5ft 10in tall, of slim build, with short brown hair and stubble.
