CHILDREN put some adults to shame at a new cookery course aimed at teaching them healthy eating habits.

The Children’s Food Trust set up the three-day course with Tesco at the store in Lockheed Close, Banbury.

The youngsters rolled up their sleeves and whipped up a range of delicious meals, from spaghetti bolognese to fruit kebabs.

Sophie Stevens, of Bicester, said her daughter Daisy Jackson-Lee, five, had great fun finding out about healthy foods and learning new recipes.

She said: “She loved the course. She has learned lots of new things and has loved the opportunity to to be really hands on.

“She’s done so much each day and has tried lots of new foods.

“She has made savoury muffins, Thai noodle salads and healthy dips. It’s all healthy and fun stuff .”

Josh Hardie, of Tesco, said: “We know mums and dads will be on the lookout for a little help to keep the children entertained during the holidays.

“Children absolutely love learning about their food, so we are delighted to be providing more free cooking courses in our stores.”

This summer, the Let’s Cook courses have taken place in 50 Tesco stores across the country. An estimated 2,700 children have taken part, including 54 youngsters from Banbury aged five to 11.
