STAFF at the Fiddes Payne factory dressed up to celebrate their millionth Frozen-themed cupcake kit rolling off the production line.

The home baking provider has long been in the business of producing easy-bake cupcake kits for children, featuring their favourite cartoon characters’ faces.

Some past favourites have been from Toy Story, Winnie the Pooh and Spiderman.

But since Princess Elsa and her wintery companions became a hit with children across the globe in the film Frozen, Fiddes Payne’s orders have gone into overdrive.

Commercial controller Alex Balzaretti, while decked out in furry jumper and Frozen handbag, said: “The project only launched in November 2014. We have had a real growth – we’ve taken a 28 per cent market share in the last four months.

“We’ve only just been able to keep on top of production. It’s taken over our business and I think a lot of businesses would say the same. This Frozen thing does not seem to be stopping.”

The Banbury factory, established for about 25 years, has gone from a two-shift, five-day-a-week pattern to three shifts, seven days a week.

Extra staff members have been hired and now a total of 75 work on the premises, about a 10 per cent increase.

Even workers on the production line got in on the celebrations, with Elsa blonde plaits and crowns fixed to their hairnets.

Ms Balzaretti said: “We had to go through a lot of health and safety for that.”

She added the Frozen product sales, which also include an Olaf the snowman cookie and marshmallow kit, have even dwarfed those of previous best-seller Spiderman.
