GARDEN-LOVERS will get the chance to visit a castle’s grand grounds, along with more humble plots, and raise funds for an Oxfordshire hospice.

From the expansive grounds of Broughton Castle to family homes, local organisations and gardeners will throw open their garden gates from May to July to raise money for Katharine House Hospice in Adderbury.

The annual Festival of Open Gardens raised £12,000 last year towards the hospice’s running costs.

Communications officer Sophie Bird said: “It’s a really nice day out. You can wander around and pick people’s brains.

“Open gardens are a long-established tradition and very popular.”
