Raiders smashed their way into a Banbury supermarket early this morning and stole a cash machine.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information after the Morrisons, in South Bar Street, was targeted.

A large black pick-up truck, believed to be a Mitsubishi L200 Warrior, and a white Mazda pick-up truck entered the supermarket car park at 3.35am.

Two men entered the store after reversing the Mitsubishi into the supermarket, smashing a window.

A strap was attached to the ATM, containing cash, andit was towed out of the store before being put on the white pick-up truck.

It is not yet known how much cash was taken.

The white Mazda pick-up truck, which was stolen from Laburnum Grove, Banbury, between 10.15pm and 3.30am, was later recovered in Sonning Common at 5am.

Investigating officer Det Con Bryn Smith said: "I am appealing for anyone with any information about this incident to speak to police and I would also be interested to speak to anyone who saw what happened.

"I believe five people were involved at the scene in this burglary and I would also like to speak to anyone who saw the vehicles travelling in convoy between Banbury and Sonning Common between 3.35am and 5am today."
