DIABETES fundraisers will be the stars of the show on Sunday when they dress up as Disney characters to take on a 5km sponsored walk.

Nine-year-old Charlie Evans, from Banbury, will join the challenge at Drayton Manor Park, Staffordshire, with mum Angela Spiby to help raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Charlie, a pupil at Orchard Fields Community School, was diagnosed with type one diabetes aged two.

He said: “I am looking forward to the walk on Sunday.

“You can come in fancy dress and go straight into Drayton Manor for free, which is great.

“I like getting to meet other people with diabetes and there are lots of games and music.”

Ms Spiby said: “A lady from the Wacky Wardrobe in Banbury donated Disney costumes to us, which we really appreciate.

“We have raised £2,000 up to now and we are hoping to raise about another £1,000 over the next four weeks.

“We have been doing fundraising for JDRF for about five years but we have done other fundraising before that.

“I wanted to do something for a charity which supported Charlie and his friends.”

The event starts at 11am. To find out more visit jdrf.org.uk
