There will be no Swan Upping in Oxfordshire this week, it has been confirmed.
The week-long census of the swan population, led by David Barber, the Queen’s swan marker has been abandoned because flooding on parts of the Thames has made it too dangerous to navigate.
Swan Uppers were due to visit Goring and Moulsford on Thurday and Benson Lock, Clifton Hampden Bridge, Culham Lock and Abingdon Bridge on Friday.
A spokesman for Mr Barber said: “The whole of this year’s programme has been cancelled.”
