HUNDREDS of real ale lovers packed into an Abingdon pub for a charity beer festival.
Town mayor Duncan Brown opened the three-day event at the King’s Head and Bell, in East St Helen’s Street on Saturday lunchtime.
Drinkers initially paid for a pint or half-pint glass which they can keep, and all the money from glass sales will be donated to injured servicemen’s charity Help for Heroes.
The festival boasted 20 different ales, including a range from the Hook Norton brewery.
Deputy pub manager Lauren Foley said the festival had been a success.
She said: “We have seen lots of people coming through the door.
“It is nice to be raising money for such an important charity.”
