STAFF at one of Abingdon's most historic pubs are looking forward to the arrival of plenty of guest ales for their sixth annual beer festival.

The Kings Head & Bell in East St Helen Street, a former 16th century coaching inn, is running the beer and cider festival from Friday, August 26 to Bank Holiday Monday.

Manager Paul Crawford, who has worked at the pub for about a year, said the festival was a good way of boosting trade over the Bank Holiday weekend.

He said: "This will be our sixth annual beer festival and this year were going for it with 26 real ales and about six ciders.

"On top of this there will be live music all weekend but most of all we want to bring a bit of that community spirit back with something for everyone, so will have great food and beer, movies and face painting for the kids and hopefully just a great weekend."

Ales featured include Wadworth Espirito De Carnaval, Thwaites Wainwright Golden, St Austell Tribute Ale and Shepherd Neame Spitfire.
