A MAN approached a woman and exposed himself before trying to steal her bag in Abingdon.

At about 10.15am on Monday, a woman aged in her thirties was on the Ock Valley River Walk when a man approached her.

Police said he exposed himself and try to steal her bag, but nothing was stolen.

The force is appealing for witnesses to come forward with information.

They say the man is white aged between 30 and 40, slim build, 6ft tall with short brown hair.

He was wearing shorts with blue, green and white squares on them and a light grey jacket.

A 39-year-old man from Abingdon has been arrested on suspicion of exposure and attempted theft and bailed until August 24.

Investigating officer, PC Matthew Ladd from Abingdon police station, said: "This is a well-used path at this time of day and many people would have been on it going to and from the town centre.

"I would like to speak to anybody or saw the incident or has any information about the offender. Please contact me via the 101 number."
