ANIMAL lovers took a walk on the wild side over the weekend to get up close and personal with some creepy creatures.

Children were invited along to the Amey Theatre in Abingdon to learn about reptiles and, for those brave enough, to hold and stroke them too.

Seven-year-old Charlie Spurgeon, from Abingdon, said: “I liked it when the man showed us all the animals.

“There were geckos, two millipedes, a snake, an African painted grasshopper and two spiders.

“I had two favourite animals and they were the snakes and geckos, because I love reptiles and because I got to hold the snake and stroke the geckos.”

Mum Lorna Spurgeon added: “ It was the first time we had come along. Charlie loves snakes and reptiles – although I can’t say I am as much of a fan.

“But we will certainly look to do more there.”

The Walk on the Wild Side Amazing Animal Show was hosted by Science Oxford at the Park Road venue on Saturday.
