ONE might normally expect to see children’s art hanging up on school walls, but this school has flipped the tradition on its head.

Instead of putting students’ paintings up, Larkmead School in Abingdon gave its staff a chance to show off their creativity.

Teachers, teaching assistants and lab technicians pulled out paint and brushes to brighten the corridors this December.

Science technician Jo Wiggins, pictured with her oil painting “Mountain Hare”, said “It’s nice to see what colleagues, outside of the arts department, can do.

“It’s also good to show students that you can be creative as a hobby.”

Their exhibition ran from Monday, December 8 until Thursday, December 18.

As well as paintings, staff also showed their skills with photography, printing, tapestry, textiles, ceramics and even cake decorations.

The show is an annual tradition at Larkmead encouraging staff to share their hidden talents.

The exhibition aims to inspire students that art can be woven throughout life as an inspiring string to their bow, even if not pursued as a career.
