KEEN crafters in Abingdon got the chance to put their art skills to the test this week – with their work to feature in an exhibition at the end of the month.

People attending the Creative Clay workshop helped to create one big ceramic artwork at the County Hall Museum.

Artist Alison Jones led the workshop, helping participants draw on clay tiles, taking inspiration from the museum objects and exhibits housed in the building.

One of those taking part was Emma Bowers, 29, from Abingdon, who made a tile of a swan.

She attended with her five-year-old daughter Lily, a St Swithun’s Primary School pupil, who made a tile featuring the Abingdon emblem.

Mrs Bowers said: “I loved it. It was really nice to get some quality time and I can’t wait to see the finished artwork.”

The tiles were taken away at the end of the day to be fired in a kiln and will return to the museum to form a big ceramic artwork in an exhibition running from November 27 to December 9.
