A MOTION of no confidence in Carterton Mayor Lynn Little will be made tonight following concerns over finances.

The motion has been put forward by councillor Roger Crapper and councillor Martin McBride as part of the Carterton Town Council meeting at town hall in Alvescot Road.

It comes after police were asked to investigate a town council bank account run by the Carterton Mayor.

Carterton Town Council clerk, Ron Spurs, revealed that he would pass matters concerning the ‘Mayor’s allowance account’ on to Thames Valley Police following an independent audit.

Mr Spurs initiated the independent audit when he grew concerned about the way the account - run by Mrs Little - was being managed.

Among the concerns raised with the auditor was a £4,000 payment to ‘Ted Little’s Veteran’s Home’ and another concern related to 15 tickets for a St George’s Day dinner earlier this year.

Mrs Little denies any wrongdoing.

The motion of no confidence will be put to councillors tonight and is a way for councillors to show whether a majority supports the leader.

The council confirmed the vote will not trigger a definitive and Mrs Little would be automatically required to stand down.
