A TEENAGE rock band performed at a primary school in Witney to give youngsters a taste of the potential of music.

Twisted State of Mind drummer Damon Marshall and guitarist Luke Ashby, both 17, attended Madley Brook CP School, in Cedar Drive, from the age of four.

They recently returned to the school to give youngsters an inspirational lesson in what they can achieve by following their dreams.

Damon said: "We were honoured to be asked back to the school. It provided a foundation for our music and we were always encouraged to pursue it, which you don't always see.

“We never forgot the support they gave us so we were thrilled to give a little back."

Luke added: “We were amazed at how much the kids enjoyed it. They were so into our set it was amazing, and we spent a long time signing autographs afterwards, which we weren't expecting.

“It was great to be able to show that there is more out there than Bieber and Little Mix."

The performance at the school has led to some pupils setting up a band of their very own.

Emma Cuthbertson, who taught Luke and Damon, said: "I thought the boys were excellent. I now have several groups of children in class setting up a band."

Twisted State of Mind, which also includes frontman Ben Comley and bassist Joe Wastie, first formed in 2011. The group has since performed more than 160 gigs across the UK and in the US.
