THE Witney Music Festival came to a close at the weekend with a final smash hit performance from an award-winning tribute band.

The whole town was gearing up for the highlyanticipated headline act on Saturday and it was revealed people were travelling from all over the UK for the big night.

From The Jam – featuring original The Jam bassist Bruce Foxton – led the way, performing on stage at The Leys to hundreds of music lovers.

They were supported by local rockers Twisted State of Mind.

The 18-day festival, which launched on May 27, featured more than 100 performers offering free shows at pubs, bars and even barbers’ shops.

The extended event was to celebrate the festival’s 10th anniversary and visitors dubbed it “absolutely brilliant”.

Founder Stuart Foster said: “It was the greatest event in Witney’s history, I would say.”

All proceeds and donations from events will be split between local branches of the British Heart Foundation and MacMillan Cancer Support, as well as 7C’s Foundation – a music academy in Witney.
