Over the past four years Witney Woodland Volunteers have planted 800 trees and have welcomed Witney schoolchildren, the Scouts and the Women’s Institute to help them out.

Mr Cameron also unveiled a plaque given to WWV by Friends of the Earth, for creating wild flower beds to attract bees.

WWV chairman Terry Ewart said: “David Cameron’s visit recognises the hard work we have put into creating this green lung in West Witney for the enjoyment of all. Now that the trees and wild flowers are established it is a joy to see so many types of birds, butterflies and bees.”
